The Copenhagen international airport was one of the first private airports and was opened in 1925. It serves Oresund region and Copenhagen and is owned by Københavns Lufthavne. Originally called Kastrup Airport, this is 8 km south of the capital of Denmark. The airport has 3 terminals and is the busiest in the Nordic countries; it served 21.4 million travelers in 2007. You could take Oresund Railway and get off at the airport terminal or line M2 of the metro to come from the city centre. You should take the E20 if you’re taking the motorway.
In 1947, a KLM Douglas Dakota crashed resulting in the death of all 22 passengers. The airport served as the centre for Sterling Airlines and is one of the three used by Scandinavian Airlines System. Some of the airlines at this airport are Skyways Express, Continental Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Thai Airways International and Syrian Arab Airlines. The IACT and ICAO codes are CPH and EKCH.
