The Dusseldorf airport saw more about 17.8 million passengers in 2007. Situated about 9 km from central Dusseldorf, it serves the Rheine-Ruhr region; it’s the base for LTU (Lufttransport-Unternehmen GmbH) and secondary hub for Lufthansa. The building can handle up to 22 million passengers annually and can also accommodate the Airbus A380.
