Narita International Airport (NRT/ RJAA) is located at Narita, Chiba, and lies on the eastern side of Greater Tokyo. It lies 60km away from downtown Tokyo. It is one of the two main airports of Tokyo. Narita has two terminals and mostly handles international flights.
If you wish to go to Tokyo station from Narita Airport, you can take the JR Narita Express (NEX) train which takes about one hour. A Suica prepaid card serves as a ticket for using all buses and trains in Greater Tokyo. Since Narita is far from Tokyo, a taxi ride is very expensive.
The other airport is the Haneda Airport (HND/ RJTT), which is located at Ota, Greater Tokyo, and mostly handles domestic flights.
Haneda Airport was started in 1931. When Narita Airport began to operate in 1978, most of Haneda’s international air traffic was taken by Narita, leaving most of the domestic air traffic to Haneda.
Haneda Airport has three terminals that are used mostly by Japan Airlines (JAL) and Al Nippon Airways (ANA). It handles 60 million passengers annually and ranks fifth in the world. You can take the JR Yamanote or JR Keihin-Tohoku Line to travel from Haneda to Tokyo in half an hour.
